Email spam is receiving unrequested commericial email trying to sell you something that you don't want to receive, you have removed or unsubscribed yourself so many times only finding that you still receive the same email offer from different people or from different sender but same person. This is also receiving commercial email from someone you totally don't know but you'll be surprised that spammer, the one who sends the email knows you and what you need. It is also known commonly as junk mail, where it really doesn't concern you in the first place so after you received it, you just mark it as junk and straight to trash.

PayyaTec SpamKiller is using the dynamic mail servers black list service maintained by www.SpamCop.net and filter out all emails received through the black listed servers. The black list is dynamically updated based on spam reports from thousands of users around the world. PayyaTec SpamKiller filtering the spam messages of by putting them in a special folder. This way, the user can control the filtering process by defining any unfiltered message as spam and automatically block the message sender, and by defining filtered messages as "not junk" and automatically approve the message sender. It's the way you post your email. Nowadays, there are forums, social networking sites, blogs, classified ads, etc. These are favorite hunting places of spammers or email harvesters. They run a email harvester software on these sites and there they "catch" your email. If you're on the internet, you should know by now to at least keep a private and a public email. The public email is to be used on these sites and the private is the one to be given (not by internet means) to your loved ones. Once you're out there on the internet, everything's for public consumption. It should not be. On this article, I'll try to give you multiple ways of protecting your private email from email spam. From the start I would like to mention that ideas below are only ways to protect you from email spam, sometimes it works, works for me and sometimes it don't.

Blocks Spam from your Inbox. Spam Blackout is safe and easy-to-use. Powerful Spam Filtering Engine. Works with Any Email Client Program e.g. Ms Outlook etc. Downloads from Hotmail, POP3 & IMAP. Spam Filters include Internet BlackList lookup for known spammers so that contact with them is prohibited, Friends/Enemy List to allow you to receive emails from friends only, Bayesian Analysis which calculates the probability of a message being spam based on its contents, Regular Spam Expressions, Email Attachment Filter with the ability to delete, quarantine or compress particular emails as they come through, options to strip all HTML, just Dangerous HTML & all Attachments from Emails. The Spam Blackout Spam Filtering engine has a Plugin architecture, allowing you to add new Spam Filters. Spam Blackout places Spam securely in it's Spam Queue and places Emails containing Viruses into Quarantine. If a legitimate email is classified as Spam, you can simply move it to the Non-Spam Folder, so that it is received into your Inbox. Spam Blackout's Email Viewer is Virus Proof. Spam Blackout gives you the option to synchronise your Local PC Clock Date and Time with that of an External Day/Time Server, so your email dates and times are always accurate. Spam Blackout lets you decide how often you want to poll the External Server for Emails. The default is 10 minutes.

1. Keep it private. Don't post your email on public sites. That's about it. If you're going to post it, do something like this for example, my email is william@nabaza.com do something like williamNOSPAM@nabaza.com if it's a human being who's going to email you he/she will know to remove NOSPAM from your email to reach you. But be careful this technique is as old as the medium where the idea of it was taken, it originated from newsgroups, those 1990's forum. Remember email harvester software and spammer software are not that advanced during those days, you can fool those old, ancient software but not today's spammer software. So it's better to use the public email for all-purpose internet posting.

2. If you have to post, then use a public email If you really have to post then use this tool, it encrypts your email so it will only be readable on the second click and can't be harvested.

(a) http://mailhide.recaptcha.net/ just type in your email and out comes a link that you can call your email, the result for my email is this http://mailhide.recaptcha.net/d?k=01Q2D_S_jg6iV1P0rjKP4Q6A==&c=mD9VBAj6gQoqNuM_0nFUWd7bBpc0E9ZUFwHkDOgKx7U= Pretty basic, but works not unless a real "human" being is after you, it will be fine.

(b) use this http://www.sneakemail.com/ you are really giving an email address that can reach you but when spammers target it for spam, then just delete it and create another one. Your real email address (the private one) is hidden from spammers and you are protected because of temporary email address. There are lots of temporary email services out there, you only have to search it.

(c) You may also use remotely hosted spam filter such as http://www.boxbe.com/ which only allows senders that you approve to send you email, you put good email addresses or real contact persons email that you want to receive email from on the whitelist and those that spams you put them on the blacklist. It's that simple, the blacklisted will not reach your email address, the whitelisted ones will reach you for that important long awaited email message.

(d) Another idea to filter spam from your mailbox is to use http://xinbox.com/ instead of posting your email address you only post a link to a form that goes thru your email address, still has it's flaws but basically works since no one will see your real email address, only the time when you reply will they have knowledge of it.

(e) Another spam filter is using this http://www.spamjab.com it currently works with pop3 emails if you have one you can use their free service to relay messages first on their email servers before it reaches your real email servers. An email account from gmail.com and/or yahoo.com works on this type of service. Again if you have forgotten whitelisting or submitting your contacts to the admin, that email will not reach you in any way.

3. Your choice of email client to get to your email. One that I'm using is http://www.thunderbird.com which has exhaustive email filters that works for me, type of email that works here are gmail, yahoo and hotmail/msn. It supports imap email servers meaning it accesses your email and it has a security higher than what POP3 can offer you.

I have mentioned Thunderbird because it supports modules or what they call as add-on, tiny software that can be added to the client itself to extend it's functionality. I will list some of those software that can help you as well filter spam. They are also known as spam blocker, whitelister, or to the extent spamfighter.

(a) Spampal.org - http://www.spampal.org/ - extends your Thunderbird to create whitelist and blacklist rules based on public databases of known spammers, so they're spam will be filtered out even before it reaches your email servers. It's very effective for me to reach to my email so it's worth to get it and install it once you have Thunderbird.

(b) Spamihilator - http://www.spamihilator.com/ - has it's own training area, and recyle bin. It keeps on learning on the training area based on what you label as spam or non-spam and next time it "remembers" that based on your email message patterns. On your next email fetch it will block and put on it's recycle bin those that are spam according to your instructions and put those non-spam to your Thunderbird email client. Sometimes the learning takes some time, but it becomes more effective on the number of emails you are receiving.

(c) Spamfighter - http://www.spamfighter.com - consists of it's own public spammer and spam-vertised domains plus the ability to add to it, if you're a member you may add email addresses that you considered as spammer's email by simply clicking the message and clicking Block on the toolbar of Thunderbird, the spamfighter toolbar will only show up after you got a successful installation of spamfighter.

4. Bonus Spam Protection From Forum Spammers. If you own a forum or you're a current forum admin or forum moderator you'll appreciate the tools below that can help you prevent and help others as well in doing it, on stopping spam on your forum(s).

(a) FSpamList - http://www.fspamlist.com/ - allows you to report the ip address, email and username of the spammer so that it will also be available to other forum admins and forum moderators like you to help out block these forum spammers.

(b) StopForumSpam - http://www.stopforumspam.com/ - it's name says it all, help out stop forum spammers by displaying and also making available their databases of spammers to be blocked or filtered out from your forum.
